News from the front......German Attack Stalls In Front Of Hillman VL
The German attack commanded by Col Wruff stalled in front of the Hillman VL! As a Tiger was about to overrun the position and troops defending it, THE GAME CRASHED! This might be good for us actually. Here are some aerial views of how the battle was progressing...and our defense was mostly holding.
my troops:
[img] [/img]
My initial positions around Hillman VL:
[img] [/img]
[img] [/img]
As the defense of the Hillman VL progressed:
We started off with the M-10 knocking out the Tiger in the upper left corner (you can see the smoke). However, once it's position was revealed, it came under fire by the second Tiger. At that point, I targeted the navel guns on this same position and managed to wound the Tiger driver. That stopped the tank. But, another Tiger was working its way along the north/south paved road leading to the Hillman VL.
The Tiger crew got tired of waiting...or bored, who knows....and charged toward the VL. The FireFly got off one INEFFECTIVE shot as the Tiger motored along the road. The Tiger proceeded to rotate the turret and blast the FF! How frustrating!!
And that's where the game CRASHED! After it was rebuilt...Gerry lost a Tiger and we lost the M-10 and FireFly....the map looks like this:
[img] [/img]
The force pool still has 2 M-10s and one FF...and the 6-lbr AT guns. So, there is the potential to inflict more tank losses on Gerry the next turn. But, I was unable to maneuver either of my prime tank assets because they were out of fuel. AT guns were down to 6 - 8 rounds a piece. Piat launchers only had one or two rounds as well. So, ammo is getting scarce.

Yes almost hard to believe XLegione also had a FF have no effect at spitting distance here too, not to mention the impregnable Panthers....
Another crash too.....thats after it crashed at Hillman 3 battles ago....its becoming almost impossible to play this....I swear I've gad less crashes in a 25 day GC than we have had in 3 days.
Well done for your tiger Sgt. Knights

Hillman Batteries vs. Pzt Kevin 19th AM
I set up to probe around but kevin set up in excellent defensive position as you will see by his tank deployment. I could not hold the exit vl because he had the vl covered with three MarkIV's and i am sure some paks hidden in the bunkers. I never exposed my tanks after seeing his deployment it would have been a huge disaster for the tanks. Since I was planning to attack my infantry were left exposed to his tanks, as i stated kevin did a fine job with his defense.

Sorry team i did not do better here but i did not think it was worth the risk of our Tanks. Again kevins defense was imo perfect, unless i wanted to risk the tanks. I did not see one ATG although i know they were their.

Re: GJS WAR AAR Day19
Wow....this Hillman battle looks like it was a real challenge! Looks like you were lucky to inflict casualties because Gerry was so aggressive in his maneuvering. Too bad CC5 isn't like (CC) Last Stand Arhem because his out-of-fuel BG would not be able to move off the map. Looks like atleast one of the Mrk IVs had fuel. The one furtherest easterly appears to have moved along the road...or am I mistaken?
Good job Loki.

Re: GJS WAR AAR Day19
looking at the map their are three markIV visible there was a fourth behind the hedges north of the deploy on the west side. The three markIV's point at the exit vl the one furthest west of the three had fuel, my 6 pounder got one shot off on it, a side shot no less but it scratched the paint only then he parked behind the bunker. Kevin then moved men to vl as i could not stop him, let me say this i am sure before the battle he had prepped his defense, I have no problems with that at all btw.
I could have easily tried to attack with tanks but i would have to expose my tanks first and then try killing his ATG in the bunkers as he would have just put them on defend making it even harder to spot as you all know.
I was in no way going to allow them to run me over if the tank battle had went wrong, and imo their was a good chance of this happening. Its a very difficult map to attack and the problem was he was well prepared for where i was going on both my fronts he had all angles covered with tank support. I know loosing that exit vl was important, but not getting disbanded and making things worse is also important as you all know.
Again hats off to kevin he had it planned out perfectly.

Re: GJS WAR AAR Day19
No worries loki. kevin was well prepared for that battle. Since they are out of supply and we still have the afternoon round, we might be able to take the exit vl back anyway.
Even if we can't in the afternoon... they still will not be able to move out. Isn't that correct?
Also, if we can hold on in the afternoon at Tailleville... that unit will still be out of supply for Day 5. Is that correct too?

Re: GJS WAR AAR Day19
Supply to Hillman through Tailleville will remain interrupted as long as the Brits have a presence on Tailleville....whether Gerry controls the exit VL or not.

Played Bretteville against Kevin...
Picked all guns and infantry as we have no armour here:-
By rd_ronson at 2012-01-21
Set up to cover whichever way he came from:-
By rd_ronson at 2012-01-21
He pushed through the houses and on our left which we contained, he also run? sneaked? a team over to the our right which were covered by his special cloaking device so didn't appear....his centre attack used his X Ray vision equipment to spot our troops in the houses and the 6pdr which was on ambush......Crazy file! lol
End result wasn't too bad :-

Battle of Villers Bocage
Battle of Villers Bocage vs Pzt_Wruff
Unfortunately we fought without petrol.... I deployed just 2 tanks, 1 stuart + 1 M10.
Set up:
The first ATG got the command panzer before to be destroyed:
the result, germans got ground, probably we can hold the map just for another time:
Strategic situation:

Played Hill112 v Kevin...took a couple of guns and infantry with the 2 tanks:-
By rd_ronson at 2012-01-28
Set up in hiding mostly and waited for him to come:-
By rd_ronson at 2012-01-28
Down that bridge he came I destroyed a big marder (105) and a HMG 1/2 track and a hell of a lot of panzer grens ...the barrage came in useful too
By rd_ronson at 2012-01-28
Its a shame this map crashed so often in the past as he still has plently of infantry here.

News From The Front.....
Brits push hard on Bois Du Bavent. The German commander, Pzt Wruff, was dug-in in the southeast corner of Bavent (and also held the Cateau) fixed to repulse the anticipated Brit inf assault. However, they were not expecting a tank assault.
Brit BG
[img]
And jump-off positions
[img]
The objective on this map has to one, contain Gerry to the southwest corner, and then second to apply steady pressure to push him off the map. The Brits took up initial positions to accomplish the second objective with the use of the two Churchill tanks available to them.
The battle began with withering mg fire from the Chateau. As soon as the hidden 6lbr tried to silence the mg crew, it was blasted by Gerry's gun in the Chateau....that was very nasty of them. Gerry's inf began probing attacks along both sides of the Chateau. These were beaten off. Brit inf tank along the bottom of the map made steady progress toward the objective exit VL. A Gerry inf gun was spotted at the cross roads. It survived a mortar barrage and air strike...boy were they lucky! Auh, but the combined fire of a vickers and tanks coming at them from different directions finally dispatch them to their maker.
Battle Results
Unfortunately, Gerry was successful in holding on to the Chateau.

The Bridge At Pegasus
British and German troops continue to slug it out at Pegasus Bridge! Despite spirited inf attacks and supporting German armor, commanded by Pzt Wruff, the Brits successfully held their side of the canal....but the bridge VL was captured by Gerry.
The British BG and defensive positions
[img]
Unfortunately, our defense of Pegasus Bridge cost us in AT guns. We deployed both 17lbrs and a 6lbr. The 6lbr crew spotted a halftrack poised to race across the bridge and blasted them. This, of course, gave away their position. Gerry concentrated mgs along the trench lines that flank the bridge keeper's house on their side of the canal. I tried to sneak two squads of inf across the bridge, but failed in both attempts due this mg coverage.
Gerry used tank mg fire to try to suppress gun crews and managed to find and knock out our AT guns. Then came the last minute inf charge. German troops came screaming across the bridge thinking the Brits were spent. Their charge was repulsed by th remaining M-10 (held in reserve) and remaining Brit inf.

Nice fights KnightsX...
I'm surprised at how easy our ATG are spotted, is this a new feature to this mod? I rarely play GJS and when I did used to play it ages ago the 6pdr was the Allied trump card very difficult to spot and hard to KO.
I'l tryand get some orders up later today or tomorrow. Good fights by everyone this round

Made the moves and played Kevin and the Tigers of Tailleville.
We are out of fuel here and I thought we'd get kicked to be truthful so just took a couple of guns and couple of tanks and hid them! :-
By rd_ronson at 2012-02-04
Set up spread out with the intention of getting a Tiger come what may:-
By rd_ronson at 2012-02-04
Wow ! the 6pdr scores a nice side shot on his cat! Meoooowww! while the engineers wait to burn up his infantry attack!
By rd_ronson at 2012-02-04
He attacked the village strongly wiped out the AT bren protection squad and Vickers with unseen troops then he attacked with his tiger and infantry, we killed Mr Tiger and the engineers wiped out a couple of infantry teams he got close to the VL but the com squads held him off. He brought a 2nd tiger into the village and we PIAT'ed it then dropped the Naval on top of it...with our luck it wil probably return. but we held out well here.
In the centre he took the pillbox at the cost of another infantry team.
On our left he moved down the hedges so we shot out one infantry team ...he kept that Tiger just a little too far back for the PIAT however our CSM shot another infantry team up ...then bayonet charged the survivors and made a run for his VL ....The Germans went in reverse like magic! so we lost one VL and almost got another!
Results :-

I must have been very lucky today, I expected another Custers last stand, but managed to kill one of his and kept both of our tanks and guns also
